Simple baked spaghetti is a staple in the Pendleton household. It is usually made weekly because everyone here eats it, it doesn’t cost a fortune, and it’s fast. If you’re not making it yet, give this one a shot. I promise someone will eat it lol.
SO SIMPLE
For years I made spaghetti the old fashioned way. I loved it that way, but my husband… not so much. A few years into our marriage, he delighted me with that information (lol) and so I started to dabble in how it could become more appetizing. Insert baked spaghetti.
There are lots of variations of this meal, but I keep things simple. One, because it’s cheaper that way, and two, my family is picky.
INGREDIENTS
*1 pound of ground beef (you can also mix in 1/2 pound of ground beef & 1/2 pound of ground sausage if you like).
*1 package of spaghetti noodles.
*1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce. I’ve tried many over the years, but my favorite to use to Rao’s Homemade Tomato Bail Sauce.
*Parmesan Cheese (1 cup)
*Mild Shredded Cheese(1 cup)
*Cooking oil-I use either extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil.
*Onion(optional)
DIRECTIONS
*Note: make sure your ground meat is thawed and ready to brown.
*Get a large pot filled with water and beginning boiling the noodles as directed by the package. Once finished, set to the side.
*Cut your onion into small (non visible bites if you have picky kids) and sauté in your pan with a small amount of any oil you choose.
*Once translucent, add your ground meat and cook thoroughly until all pink is gone. I’ll be honest, I tend to over cook my meat until it’s almost crispy. No, you don’t have to do that.
*Drain the oil from your pan and set aside. Note: If you don’t know already, drain the oil into a jar, not down your kitchen sink drain.
*Mix cooked ground beef, noodles, spaghetti sauce, and 1/2 of both cheeses together. I use the same pot I cooked the noodles in.
*Transfer mixture to a 9×13 pan. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over top.
*Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.
I will usually serve ours with a simple side salad & homemade garlic bread (aka: old bread top with butter and garlic salt).
That’s it. It really is a simple baked spaghetti. I guarantee your family will say not only thank you, but yummmmm.
ADDITIONS
Do you know what I add to my cooked spaghetti? I like to add some homemade pesto, or ranch, or even sour cream. Haven’t tried it? Do it. It’s absolutely delicious. Now, my family may not agree, but I definitely have a better palate then them. 🙂
