Whoops, We Brought Chicks Home

Whoops, We Bought Chicks Early

Pendleton Family FarmFebruary 27, 2021

Sharing is caring!

I love how I titled it “we” when it was really me lol. Long story short, I have no self control. We have 15 chicks coming in May, but I go to the store to pick up duckling supplies, and come home with 4 additional animals.

WHOOPS, I BROUGHT HOME CHICKS

MEET THE NEW GIRLS IN TOWN

Miss Marvel, SheHulk, Storm, & Wanda. Want to take a guess the theme of the names? If you guessed Marvel characters, you would be right. I love, LOVE watching Marvel movies. I bet you didn’t know that little kid-bit about me did ya?

SEE WHAT HAPPENED WAS...

Let me set the stage for you…husband is out of town. I tend to bring animals home when he’s out of town. Exhibit A:  Atlas.

Exhibit B: Cricket, which was purchased for my oldest daughter from our local rescue. Still the best cat we’ve ever had hands down.

I promise the kids and I really did go to Tractor Supply for duck supplies(bedding, food, a treat), but I had forgotten it is chick season there and well…I did at least text my husband first. He knows me well enough to know that if we had fencing up already (soon), there would be more than chicks here when he returned home next week.

WHAT KIND OF BREED OF CHICKS?

I rationalized my purchase by saying that we had not ordered this breed for May so we’re just adding to the flock early. These girls are Golden Comet breed and are cute as all get out. We only got 4 since we have 15 coming in May, but they are already so much easier to care for than the ducks (so far).

I didn’t realize baby chicks let you pick them up with ease. They have already eaten out of my hand and snuggled. LOVE!
